Click Here to Read! For starters, yes it's long. It spans over 4,000 words and I get that can be a bit tedious to some, but it's what felt right for me. Honestly, it didn't even register to me that it was so long until I stopped writing. In fact, was actually going to be longer if I hadn't stopped. Anyway, instead of going "Oh it's 4,000 words!" let me explain what I was trying to do here. So this is the debut show of NLW, so to me that means it's an event where we want to give it our best. Not only that, but we want to give both the promotion and our characters something unique about them. At least, that's how I feel about it. And that's what I tried to do here with Defecto. I wanted to give the reader a look at to who Defecto is. Why does he wear the mask? What makes his mask different from others? Who's Defecto got his eyes on for the future? What kind of relationship will he have with Bryan Kennedy's other client, Claudia Deathstryke? How much time do they spend together outside of wrestling? What kind of things does Defecto find entertaining? What does he think about the opponents and their styles? What's his gameplan, knowing that he's not only the shortest and lightest competitor but his trademark finisher has already been neutralized in just the first event? These are things that, to me, should sort of be in every roleplay. Get into the character, find out what makes him/her unique, and that's what I tried to do with Defecto. I really think that when a reader gets the chance to read it, they'll find a nice story that they'll want to see play out over time as we progress. Also, about the blog. This tidbit will be the opening statement in every roleplay I do. It's a way for Defecto to mention somethings that while not important to the weekly match, it's still important in some fashion or another. For example, Defecto feels rejected after Christian Taylor not accepting the match and therefore goes about it in his blog. It's sort of something I started with an old character [Scotty Rave] and find it to be something that I don't see very often. So I use it as a uniqueness factor, and it actually serves a purpose. I've seen some characters where said blogs were just there to be there, but this isn't the case. So yeah, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Ok!! where to start. Your RP is very very good for what it is you are trying to get out of it. But for me I am old school like Leo Boogie posted that he is. I don't believe in writing novels for your RP. I really don't need to know what your wrestler likes or dislikes out of the wrestling world. This game is supposed to be about wrestling and the world of wrestling. That is what is started out as anyway. It was supposed to be guys doing promos for their matches and that was it but somewhere a long the way so called writers thought it would be a good idea to take over this game and use it to write their own short stories or novels about every damn thing their wrestler does and think. I really could care less. I only need to see him either in the ring or back stage or at someone's home like you see in wrestling since wrestling has been on tv. But if you like this style of RP there is nothing wrong with it. Its just not what I like.

Okay so, I really want to know what you mean by "old school" because for me, it's always been about the best stories... just like wrestling itself. Hogan sucks at wrestling, yet he's the guy people associate with being the greatest because he told amazing stories. Efedding, for at least the past 10 years has always been the same way. If your stories are better, sync up with how things work, and make for an entertaining character then that's who wins. And like wrestling, how that entertainment comes about has been changed throughout those past ten years.
For example, we no longer get big oily muscle bound freaks yelling at a camera for no reason in wrestling. Instead, we get Weddings, Twitter Wars, and Random matches. Not to mention, WWE has now produced 3 reality series that goes into the lives of pro-wrestlers [Training, During their Career, and Legends House] and all three shows have been rating hits. We're in an era where people love to know what's going on with the wrestlers and the same goes in efedding.
You can kind of give that credit to Bischoff, Heyman, McMahon, and Russo. When they took over, wrestling was how it was in the 70s... dull and boring, with a little bit of entertainment here and there. Then after giving us "The Phenom back from Hell to put to rest the souls of man" [Undertaker] or "The Hero Who Embraces the Evil to vanquish the cancer" [Sting] type characters. We started to get friendships that seemed so real that a gun was pointed at another man and almost cost WWE to no longer exist. We even got commentators telling us "This isn't in the script" because they were trying to pull back the curtain a bit for the fans.
Everyone has their style of roleplaying, and that's all well and fun. But to me, getting to know a character is the most important part. Why else would you watch a movie if not to figure out why those characters are the way they are?

I was fine with this - because the piece is wrestling relevant.
I don't need an RP to be in-ring or backstage cutting a promo 100% of the time - but as long as the promo's about being a wrestler and how who the person is ties into that, I'm pretty much fine with anything.

When most eFedders call themselves "Old School" it means they come from the time in the early to mid 90's when eFedding really started to hit the internet with feds having a website and forum.
During this time 98.9% of your RP's now more commonly known as "Promo's" were well under 1,000 total words.
The original idea for eFedding was for handlers to post RP's for their wrestlers on things we'd see on TV. Go watch RAW for 1yr even now, and tell me how many segments, interviews etc that are about a particular wrestler take place outside of the ring or backstage, answer - Very few.
Mostly what you see on TV is a guy backstage with an interviewer. They ask said wrestler a few questions, they answer, interview done. This is exactly what eFedding used to be. But like most things has evolved.
I personally can read an RP around 1,000 words and say it's great, but the next one could be missing something and should of been longer.
In the case of Defecto's 4,000 word RP, I can read an RP that style and enjoy it, but sometime it's the opposite of a 1,000 word RP. Meaning I could say it's just to much detail.
It's all about the writer, if you can keep things interesting, nice. if you can prove your point in less words, nice. Both styles work and are very effective. It's all about the Quality of an RP, and sometimes 1,000 beats 4,000... and the next time 4,000 beats 1,000.
God I love this game!

Like Mr. Boogie and Mr. McGee I am am old school guy what that means like Mr. Bullet said is we all got our start when this game we all like to play first started. This game was started for people to pretend that they were a pro wrestler and write his promos week in and week out. Back then promos was all that you saw and back then you were either a tag team or a singles wrestler and that's how it was.
Back then no on cared what the wrestlers were doing out of the ring. It was all about the wrestling and promos for the matches. Now a days people believe that you need to give every damn detail of their wrestler's life but that was not what the game was started for. I have been playing this game for over 20+yrs now and I truly believe this game changed for the worst not the better.
Now people are going to say this is a writing game and I would say yes it is now because so many so called writers thought it would be a good idea to join this game and do what they do. I truly believe that has killed the game for a lot of people.
I have been in feds where there was Vampires and Killers and all things in between but what the hell does any of that have to do with wrestling? I am guilty of writing about my wrestlers at the time who fell in line with that and in the back of my mind I always said this is wrong but that is what everyone was doing so I went along with it.
I believe without a shadow of a doubt that is what most hardcore efeders did they just said this is the norm right now so go with it. But to me it killed this game for many and that is why it gets harder and harder to find people to join a new fed.
A lot of you have been playing this game for ten yrs or less and that is when this game changed and to me not for the better but a good amount of people that play this game enjoy the game as it is now. I still like this game and enjoy playing it but I will never say I love it again.
As for what you see now not everyone watches all the WWE reality series there are still many fans that only watch the WWE for Raw and Smackdown and any other show that shows matches and the promos we are use to seeing. There are many fans that do not like what they see because it's not what wrestling use to be about.
So I guess it all comes down to what the writer likes ans what the reader like. I myself really like the old school promos the best but I can read the novel style promos as well and say damn that is how that should have been written.
Like I have said for yrs and will say it. This game is about wrestling always has been always will be. But each person believes that you should do this or that. I just believe it should be simple and to the point. Maybe I am getting to old for this game and maybe it's time for me to walk away and say 20+ yrs is enough.
The reason I say this is there will be many of you that read this and say he is wrong and I will argue that you are wrong but truth is no is wrong and no one right. It just comes down to when you started this game and how you like to play it.

It was a damn good RP, Defecto. Well-constructed. I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to face off against you.
