A guy in Las Vegas was stalking down the busy street with his hoodie pulled over his head. He was keeping his head low so no one could recognize his face under the shadowy veil of the hood. Moving into a crowd of people, there was a sudden female scream followed by a cry for help.
“Help! Somebody, help!”
The crowd parted just in time for the robber to go shooting out the other side as fast as he can. As he ran with a rather fancy purse in his hands, his hood fell off thanks to the wind resistance from the speed he was running. It was some thug with tattoos on his neck. He wasn’t the only one who began running from the scene though because another man went sprinting after him.
“Get back here!”
The pursuer shouted after him, not expecting him to comply. Of course, he didn’t. The attention only made the robber to turn back and look at who was pursuing him. It was none other than NLW’s own Jason Cruze. The robber attempted to weave in between people to get away from Cruze, but the agile professional wrestler kept up easily, but as he almost caught him, the robber sprinted out into the street causing a bunch of cars to stop in Jason’s way as he attempted to pursue. He didn’t lose a step though, instead of halting his sprint, Cruze jumped and slid across one hood then barrel-rolled over the next hood then ran and dove into a roll to land on his feet just behind the criminal.
Instead of surrendering though, the robber ran down an alleyway toward a fence which he quickly and frantically began to climb. Jason Cruze, still in pursuit, ran up the wall of the alleyway, kicked himself off the wall, then tackled the robber causing him to fall from the fence on his back with Jason atop of him.
Thug: “Get the fuck offa’ me!”
Jason Cruze: “Not until you say ‘please.’”
The thug didn’t seem too amused with Jason Cruze’s humor, but Jason grinned regardless as the robber tried to struggle once more, but Cruze shoved a forearm into the other man’s chin, pressing his cheek against the pavement below.
“...or you could just return the nice lady’s purse. Maybe that would be easier than making you into a gentleman.”
As the robber tried to talk, Jason couldn’t honestly understand him nor did he care to. Instead, he just ripped the purse right out of the guy’s grasp then returned to his feet and walked away, leaving the robber to his own devices. Cruze found himself on the robber’s bad side obviously due to the colorful language he was throwing at him behind his back, but, by the fact that Jason didn’t even bother to turn back to him, he didn’t care what the guy said.
Luckily, the walk back to the female that had gotten her purse stolen was a short one because after that burst of adrenaline, Jason was a little worn out especially after all the training he had been doing over the past week for the NLW Heavyweight Championship Tournament.
“I believe this is yours.”
He huffed and puffed as he handed her the purse back. As he did, Cruze was finally able to get a good look at the chick, and, damn, was she fine. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Couldn’t go wrong with that.
“Oh, thank you so much! That was some impressive skills you have there.”
Her fingers combed through her bangs with a smile on her face. Jason couldn’t help but return the gesture. That bright smile of hers was contagious to say the least.
Jason Cruze: “Eh, been at Parkour for a while now. Thanks though.”
Blonde Beauty: “You’re welcome. Do you just spend the day jumping from buildings or do you have a more practical job?”
Jason Cruze: “Oh, uh, well, I don’t really jump off of buildings, but I do essentially do Parkour as my job… I wrestle for NLW. I’m Jason Cruze if you’re familiar with the company?”
He wasn’t sure if she would be due to the fact that the wrestling organization he belonged to was merely a few weeks old. His eyes searched for any signs of recognition on her features. Nothing.
Blonde Beauty: “Can’t say I am…. but wrestling. That must be an interesting job.”
Needless to say, Jason Cruze was proud of his job so he nodded with a smirk. Suddenly, he remembered they were standing on a busy sidewalk.
Jason Cruze: “Hey, uh, do you wanna’ go get some coffee or something? So we can get out of this crowd? Wait, I didn’t even ask your name. Excuse my barbarian ways…”
Blonde Beauty: “Oh, it’s no problem, my name is Lana. “
Jason Cruze: “So coffee? My treat.”
Cruze arched an eyebrow as he motioned over to the Starbucks just at the end of the block. Lana smiled that infectious smile again. Lana: “Well, if it is your treat then refusing would be rude.”
Jason Cruze: “That’s the spirit.”
They both began walking side-by-side toward the Starbucks when Lana questioned him.
Lana: “So, you said you wrestle? Do you have any big matches coming up?”
This brought a smile to the handsome features of Jason Cruze’s face. It wasn’t that he was completely full of himself, but rather, he just really loved talking about the sport that he was so proud to be apart of.
Jason Cruze: “Actually, yes, facing off against Damien Acid in the second round of the NLW Heavyweight Championship Tournament. It’s definitely a huge match. That dude is a monster. Not gonna’ lie, I’m kinda’ nervous.”
At first, as he was talking, Jason’s gaze was on the Starbucks ahead of them, but as he spoke more, his head turned to look at Lana as she listened. The two made eye contact without any awkwardness, which was a good thing.
Lana: “With those awesome Parkour skills I’m a little surprised to hear that.”
Jason Cruze: “Well, actually, it’s kind of a normal. Even if I’m facing someone I think will be a cakewalk, I still get nervous before my matches. I guess it’s a performer thing, maybe? The crowds NLW draws in are actually pretty impressive. During the first show, we had fourteen point five K in the building. Not bad for some upstart wrestling company. Anyway, one thing I have going for me is Damien doesn’t exactly have a streak on his side. I am currently undefeated so I have some momentum going into the match which I know isn’t always everything, but at least it’s something, right?”
Lana: “Wow, see I can’t buy that you are actually nervous. Sounds to me like you have the momentum to really push you forward.”
Jason Cruze: “Well, damn. I’m glad someone believes. Maybe I need you to come to Roulette with me and talk me up before the match.”
Cruze released a laugh, not thinking she’d really be interested in going to see a professional wrestling event. Wrestling was more of a guy thing anyway.
Lana: “Actually, I’d love to go see one of the shows.”
Jason Cruze: “I can get you in, but it’s gonna’ cost ya’...”
Lana: “Cost me?”
At this point, they had reached Starbucks. Jason paused before speaking to open the door for her and spoke to her before she entered.
Jason Cruze: “Yeah, you have to let me take you out after I beat Damien Acid tomorrow night.”
A confident smirk broke across Jason’s face as he arched his eyebrow just slightly as she answered with a smile.
Lana: “Deal.”
With that, the two walked in talking back and forth...
